Tory's Weekend:
On the Mont - April 1999

Text by Alan Jervis. Photos by Alan Jervis and Tim Lewis.

People attended this weekend to commemorate the life of our friend Tory, who died recently. Here are some photos of us constructing floating reed beds by taking gabion baskets, filling them with expanded polystyrene, covering them with mud and transplanting sedges and other marginal plants. The beds were then fastened across the entrance to a disused winding hole to prevent access by boats. This is us being green and caring - creating a mini-habitat.

The memorial bench is tested out by the people who built it.
