Training Weekend 2001:
Droitwich

This training weekend took place on a sunny bank holiday weekend in Droitwich. In a change from previous years, there was a lot less emphasis on machine-driving (with only one dumper and one excavator) and an increased amount of training in other skills: bricklaying, surveying / levelling, scaffolding and demolition.

... which involves using a sight and staff.

For the first time, there were significant amounts of "real" work done as part of the training. Here, scaffolding the entire lock chamber is needed for the wall repairs planned for the summer camps to take place...
...and here, the brickwork training involved rebuilding one of the walls of the lock 3 sidepond.

Before "real" brickwork took place, basic brickwork training was done using dummy walls which were knocked down afterwards.
