Public Transport
By bus
From Newport catch No. 30 to Cardiff. From Cardiff catch No. 30 to Newport.
Get off at St. Illtyd's School / top of St. Mellons Hill / Mount Pleasant
Avenue.
By train and coach
To Newport Station where it is easier to pick you up than at Cardiff Station.
To Cardiff Station from where a taxi may be cheaper than from Newport.
To either Newport or Cardiff Stations and then by No. 30 bus - see above.
By Road
Because of regular traffic jams between M4
Junctions 24 to 32 on Friday evenings you are advised to reach Newport from
7.00pm onwards.
From M4 through Newport traveling West
- Leave M4 at Junction 28 - Newport A48. [J28 to School is about 5 miles]
- At the roundabout straight on to A48 - Castleton, St. Mellons.
- 3 more roundabouts in quick succession - follow A48 - Castleton, St. Mellons.
- Carry on (through Castleton) for about 4 miles.
- At the roundabout straight on to B4487 St. Mellons. Do NOT go right signed
A48.
- At the next roundabout straight on B4487 through St. Mellons.
- Up the hill to the traffic lights, left hand lane, after just 50 yards turn
left at AMEY construction sign / St. Illtyd's High School.
- Follow the road around in front of the School to the car park.
IF YOU MISS JUNCTION 28, GO ON TO JUNCTION 30 (NOT 29) and follow directions
below.
From M4 around Cardiff traveling East, (or if you missed J28)
- Leave M4 at Junction 30 - Cardiff (E) A4232. [J30 to School is about 31/2
miles]
- Straight on at next roundabout to the next, left A48 - Newport, St. Mellons.
- Leave at next slip road, at roundabout right on to B4487 - St. Mellons.
- At the next roundabout straight on B4487 through St. Mellons.
- Up the hill to the traffic lights, left hand lane, after just 50 yards turn
left at AMEY construction sign / St. Illtyd's High School.
- Follow the road around in front of the School to the car park.
From within Cardiff
- Leave Eastern Avenue at Llanedeym Interchange, right to next roundabout, left
up Rumney Hill.
- or, if on Newport Road, stay on old road and go up Rumney Hill.
- Go through Rumney past Eastern Leisure Centre on your left towards St. Mellons.
- Just before traffic lights at top of St. Mellons Hill, turn right at AMEY
construction sign / St. Illtyd's High School.
- Follow the road around in front of the School to the car park.
